Miss USA 2007 Tara Conner has received a second chance by Miss Universe Organization co-owner Donald Trump after agreeing to enter rehab.

"She was telling me that she got caught up in the whirlwind that is New York," said Trump. "I've always been a believer in second chances. Tara is a good person, Tara has tried hard, Tara is going to be given a second chance."

The beauty queen came under fire after reports emerged that she had visited bars in New York City although she was under the legal drinking age of 21.

"She's agreed to go into rehab, she knows if she makes even the slightest mistake from here on she will be immediately replaced," said Trump.

Other allegations claim Conner used drugs and was sexually promiscuous. She is also rumoured to have been seen making out with Miss Teen USA Katie Blair.

Trump said Conner will be subject to drug testing.

Before this morning's meeting, Trump had pretty much decided to fire Conner, he revealed.

"We talked about a lot of things and to be honest I expected fairly routinely that we would be terminating Tara as Miss USA," said Trump. 

Conner thanked Trump, saying he had "a wonderful heart, a heart of gold, and a bless soul."

"You heard about the other things he could have said, 'You're Fired', and I think that's what everyone expected, especially me," Conner said, holding back tears. "But he's a very, very compassionate person and I'm so happy that I'm being given this opportunity because I know that when I do my job I'm very passionate about it."

"In no way did I think that it would be possible for a second chance to be given to me."

Conner addressed the drinking rumours but did not comment on the drug allegations.

"I had a couple of nights where yes, I did drink," she said. "That was stupid, I was under age, it's strictly prohibited... with a drug issue, things of that nature, I don't have a comment on anything like that."
